Killington, Vermont — Killington’s new ownership team isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Following their purchase of the Vermont ski resort in 2024, they have spent more than $65 million improving both Killington and Pico. Those include the investments coming this offseason.

Yesterday, Killington Resort announced $25 million in investments to be made this offseason. These include the previously announced Snowdon chairlift replacement, the opening of the new mountain biking trail, and the start of work on the new Jamaican Jerk Grill. The announcement also includes newly referenced projects, such as a new lift at Pico, snowmaking upgrades, and more summer attractions.

Probably the most interesting part of the announcement regards the Outpost terrain pod at Pico. Last spring, Pico had to close the Outpost Double for good due to a mechanical issue. Due to the timing, a chairlift replacement couldn’t be purchased and installed in time for next winter. In response, Pico will install a rope tow to access the terrain for next winter. Planning is underway to install a new chairlift, with the goal of opening it for the 2027-28 season.

The pink line is where the rope tow will be.

Snowmaking continues to be a focus, with a couple of fans added to the Mouse Trap and Skyeburst trails. The big project will be on Conclusion, a double-black-diamond trail below the new Snowdon chairlift. New pipelines and approximately 23 new low-energy HKD snowguns are being added, restoring access to the trails for the first time in around a decade. New pipelines are also being added to the Bear Mountain terrain pod, improving efficiency on Upper Wildfire and other trails.

In terms of dining, work this summer will focus on building the retainer wall for the new Jamaican Jerk Grill, which will be four times the size of its predecessor. Plans for the facility include a large deck, an estimated 160 indoor seats (up from 26), 100 outdoor seats, full bar service, more indoor bathrooms, and improved staff spaces. This facility will be known as the Needle’s Eye Lodge. Originally planned for the 2026-27 season, it is now scheduled to open during the winter of 2027-28.

Lift maintenance projects are planned for the Needle’s Eye Quad, Skye Peak Quad, Skyeship Gondola, K-1 Gondola, and Bear Mountain Quad lifts. Over at Pico, the Summit Quad will also see a refurbishment.

Other recent investments at Killington Resort include the new Superstar Six, the replacement of the Skyeship Gondola cabins, a new barn to store those gondola cabins, a redesigned beginner area at Pico, 1,044 new snowguns, the replacement of the Ledgewood Yurt, and much more.

Summer Activities

Work is underway on adding new summer activities. Two new attractions are being added to the Adventure Park: Beast Tower and Climbing Wall. Meanwhile, the Roaring Brook Mining attraction has been doubled in size, the Trampoline Jump is being replaced, a new playground has been added and the growing a small bike track.

Mountain biking is another focus. A new 1.5-mile blue, single-track hybrid trail will be constructed this summer. A new dual slalom course and jump line will debut in Ramshead. New equipment, including a Moritz crawler carrier, and assistance from a third-party trail builder will improve bike park maintenance.
