Dresser, Wisconsin — One of Wisconsin’s most popular ski areas has made extensive upgrades this offseason, and it won’t be long before skiers and riders can check them out.
Yesterday, Trollhaugen Troll detailed their offseason projects, which will lead to a quicker opening and a better-operating ski area.
Snowmaking is a big focus for Trollhaugen this offseason. This includes 3,500 feet of new snowmaking pipe and 10 new TechnoAlpine snowguns on Nissebakken, Julebakken, and across the ski area. Other upgrades include replacing the gearbox on Chair 4, adding a new motor room and lift shack for Tomte, along with a new well line & transformers.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for Trollhaugen’s famous on-snow fall event. On October 3rd and 4th, Trollhaugen will host Open Haugen, which features lift-served skiing thanks to the ski area’s tarped-off snow.
About Trollhaugen
The Wisconsin ski area features 30 trails, 8 lifts, and a vertical drop of 280 feet. The ski area also features 100% snowmaking and night skiing coverage. Between 2022 and 2023, Trollhaugen expanded the area, adding multiple new trails and a new quad chairlift. It’s well known for its park scene, which is strengthened by its rope tows. There’s also a lift-served snow tubing park next to the ski area.
The offseason is usually quieter at Trollhaugen. While they had an aerial challenge course and ziplines operational in prior years, they closed them in 2025 due to rising insurance costs.
