Mont-Tremblant, Quebec — It took a little longer than expected, but Quebec’s largest ski resort is about to embark on an expansion.
Yesterday, Tremblant announced that it has begun work on the Timber Summit expansion. Originally announced in 2020, the project saw delays, likely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the recent announcement of the Club Med in Tremblant, work is now pushing forward.
“Timber Summit represents much more than an expansion of our ski terrain. It reflects our commitment to continually elevating the Tremblant experience and creating new opportunities for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities, today’s families, and generations to come,” said Patrice Malo, President and CEO of Station Mont Tremblant.
Expansion Details
The C$42.5 million investment is already underway. First up is the opening of a new learning area next to the Casino Express Gondola. The 1.1-acre beginner area will offer a mellow learning experience with a 13-degree slope. This area will be served by a covered conveyor (magic carpet) lift. It will also have snowmaking. It will debut during the 2026-27 season and be open on weekends and during peak periods.
Next up is the expansion onto the Timber Summit. While there are a few existing trails in this area, it’s underutilized and has potential to be a great terrain pod for families and less skilled skiers and riders. The eight new trails will be mostly beginner and intermediate, with one advanced run. The new trails will also have snowmaking coverage.
Timber Summit will be served by a new detachable high-speed quad chairlift. The chairlift will be 1,800 meters (5,905.5 feet) long and have a vertical rise of 423 meters (nearly 1,400 feet). With 125 chairs, it will have a capacity of 2,400 people per hour. The lift will be similar to the Lowell Thomas Express.
The new terrain pod and chairlift are scheduled to debut during the 2027-28 season. Meanwhile, the new Club Med is scheduled to open in December 2028. Magnifique!
