Adaptive sports are often filled with some of the coolest, hardest working people in athletics, and Dan Mancina is no different. As a blind skateboarder, Dan’s working to change how people see in addition to building the world’s first ever adaptive skatepark built for the blind, by the blind.
Dan’s good friend Anthony Ferraro provided a tour through the new park, explaining the benefits of each feature. It includes a 40 foot flat bar and ledge, both with plenty of room to set up, an entire side made up of quarter pipe to reduce the risk of falling off the edge, cracks that line you up with different features, and more.
Dan has been working on the park for seven years and he plans to run camps and contests there, spreading the sport as much as possible. Seriously impressive stuff.
