Mt. Washington, New Hampshire Many skiers across the planet have shredding Tuckerman Ravine on their bucket list.

This includes WBZ-TV (CBS News Boston) anchorman Chris Tanaka, who completed a bucket list challenge earlier this spring. The CBS Mornings series “Never Too Late” has news anchors take on bucket list challenges they have always wanted to accomplish. For Chris, this was skiing Tuckerman Ravine in New Hampshire.

The short video is an excellent guide for those who’ve never done Tuckerman but want to take it on. The video includes time estimates as to how long each portion of the hike takes and what challenges to expect on the trip up.

An extended version of the video has Chris interview Keith Moon, who’s with Vortex Mountain Guides. Keith provides some insight into the advantages of going with a guide, common mistakes, and what Vortex does when the snow melts. If you want to go with a guide, Vortex Mountain Guides is worth a look.

Regarding current conditions in Tuckerman Ravine, most of the snow has melted, and hazards still exist. If you want to ski in New Hampshire right now, you’ll want to go to the Snowfields of Mt. Washington.
