Oregon If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about Oregon’s ski history, a new book covers the histories of various abandoned ski areas in the state.

For years, Oregon ski historian Steve Stenkamp has been documenting the history of the state’s ski industry. The Lost Oregon Ski Areas Facebook page covers various historical tidbits about these shuttered mountains. After all these years of research, he decided to write a book about his findings.

Last November, Stenkamp released a new book that discusses Oregon’s ski industry. The book “Lost Oregon Ski Areas” dives into the history of fifty abandoned Oregon ski areas. Reviews of the book are very positive on Amazon, with a five-star rating from six readers. You can purchase the book here.

Last week, Central Oregon Ski News chatted with Steve Stenkamp to discuss his new book. Steve explained what it took to create such a book, along with stories of some of the abandoned ski areas in the state. It’s a great watch if you want a sampler of what’s in the book.
