Eden, Utah To be blunt, no ski resort had it worse last season in Utah, let alone the United States, than Nordic Valley.

The Apollo Chairlift, Nordic Valley’s main workhouse out of its base area, was out of service for the entire season due to various mechanical issues. To help skiers and riders reach their new terrain pod, Nordic Valley bought Alpina Sleds to transport guests to the Nordic Express. Rather than replace the chairlift this offseason, Nordic Valley decided to refurbish it.

In January, their base lodge caught on fire. The Barn featured most of its base area services, including a Ski Patrol-themed bar. This resulted in them temporarily closing their lifts. While Nordic Valley reopened shortly after, the Barn was closed for good.

On September 14th, Nordic Valley General Manager Pascal Begin gave an update on two major off-season projects. The Barn was demolished this summer, officially ending its tenure as Nordic’s base lodge. According to Begin, Nordic Valley will use a “customized double manufactured home as a temporary skier service building” for the 2024-25 season and the next couple of winters afterward. Nordic Valley plans to build a new base lodge in the coming years, and a replica barn is planned for Nordic Valley’s planned base village.

In addition, the restoration work on Apollo is nearing completion. A prior update from Nordic Valley indicated they would complete the work this fall.

Despite these setbacks, Nordic Valley remains one of the underrated gems in Utah’s ski industry.
