The Aosta Valley is returning to the Ikon Pass for the 2026-27 ski season with major lift upgrades, expanded access, and some of the most extensive skiing in the Alps. The Italian region will offer Ikon Pass holders seven combined days across five ski areas and Skyway Monte Bianco, with no blackout dates. Ikon Base Pass holders will receive five days of access.
Three New Gondolas Coming To Aosta Valley
The biggest development for the upcoming season is an $85 million investment in three new 10 passenger gondolas at Courmayeur Mont Blanc and La Thuile.
Courmayeur is receiving two new gondolas as part of a $45 million investment. The lifts will replace the existing Chécrouit cabin lift and Maison Vieille chairlift. Both gondolas will feature panoramic cabins designed to operate in winds of up to 50 mph.
La Thuile is investing $40 million in a new gondola that will replace two chairlifts on the primary route toward the cross border Espace San Bernardo ski area. The new lift is scheduled to open in December 2026 and will provide access to Punta Chaz Dura, the Italian summit of the ski area.
Five Major Ski Areas Included
The Aosta Valley offers more than 500 kilometers of groomed trails across Cervino Ski Paradise, Courmayeur Mont Blanc, La Thuile, Monterosa Ski and Pila. The region also provides extensive freeride terrain and access to Skyway Monte Bianco.
Cervino Ski Paradise is scheduled to open October 24th, 2026, making it one of the earliest Italian ski area expected to begin the season. The resort reaches 11,417 feet at Plateau Rosà and connects directly with Zermatt in Switzerland.
Courmayeur offers more than 60 miles of terrain beneath Mont Blanc, while La Thuile provides 89 miles of skiing across the international Espace San Bernardo network with La Rosière in France. Monterosa Ski is known for its extensive freeride terrain, while Pila offers convenient access from the regional capital of Aosta through its panoramic gondola.
Three Countries Within Reach
The Aosta Valley offers Ikon Pass holders an unusual opportunity to build a European ski trip around three countries. Skiers can cross into Switzerland from Cervino and France from La Thuile, while Chamonix is only about 20 minutes from Courmayeur through the Mont Blanc Tunnel.
With new lifts, extensive terrain and international connections, the Aosta Valley is entering the 2026-27 season as one of the biggest European destinations on the Ikon Pass.
