It’s so refreshing to see a ski resort actually be candid about conditions, isn’t it? It seems like a lot of ski resorts in Vermont get that, and Jay Peak is one of the stars of the show.

Jay got dumped on in recent days, and is currently operating (as of 4/12/22) with 72/81 trails open. Pretty dang good for mid-April.

Despite the high trail count and decent snowpack, Jay Peak’s President and General Manager Steve Wright posted a candid plan for the remainder of the season.

The resort is expecting rain in the coming days, and Wright is making sure that expectations are set appropriately. Check out the full statement below:

Sounds like Jay might be in for a few bumps in the road as far as rain and warm weather, but it’s nice to know that Wright and the team are looking to be as transparent as possible.

We need more honestly like this in the ski industry. I’m so glad that the days of ski resorts sugar coating snow reports, lying about conditions, and fudging numbers are fading behind us.

Bravo to Jay Peak and Steve Wright.

I hope the remainder of the season is a blast!
