Conditions at Grand Targhee ahead of closing weekend.

If you’re hoping to ski in Wyoming before the end of the winter season, know that you’ve only got a few days left and only one mountain to do it at. Grand Targhee Resort is the last open ski area in the state, and it’s set to wrap up the season after this Sunday, April 19th.

To wrap up the season, the ski area is hosting the first annual Targhee Treasure Run, a resort-wide scavenger hunt taking place from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday, April 18th, across the Dreamcatcher and Shoshone pods of Fred’s Mountain, as well as the base area. Participants collect stamps on a card by locating marked points throughout the mountain, with each stamp earning a raffle ticket that can be applied toward a selection of prizes ranging from season passes and ski equipment to guided fishing trips and local gift cards.

Entry requires a minimum ten dollar donation to one of six local nonprofits, including organizations such as Teton FC, the Teton Regional Land Trust, and Seniors West of the Tetons. Check-in and card return take place at the Trap Lawn area, and all cards along with raffle tickets must be submitted by 4:00pm, with the raffle drawing held at 4:15pm on the Trap Bar deck. Attendance at the drawing is required to claim prizes. Shoshone pod markers are designated exclusively for children ages 6 through 12, while Dreamcatcher and base area markers are open to all ages.

Beyond the Treasure Run, the day includes live music on the Trap Deck featuring a DJ from noon to 3:00pm followed by Chan Man Roots Band, as well as a special Ski in Jeans Day hosted by Family Safety Network for a chance to win an additional season pass. The resort will also be welcoming home Olympian Jaelin Kauf following her performance at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The full event schedule for closing weekend is available here.

Grand Targhee is heading into closing weekend with some solid conditions, with 5 inches of snow falling into Friday morning, 6 inches falling in the last 24 hours, and 14 inches in the last 48 hours. 4 of 6 lifts are spinning and 60 of 95 trails are open as of Friday, April 17th.
