Beaver, Utah — Eagle Point Resort has had a cruel summer. The Cottonwood Fire led to major damage across the ski resort. Over the past few weeks, there have been washouts on their access road. Due to these factors, Eagle Point made a heartbreaking, yet unsurprising decision.
Today, Eagle Point Resort announced it won’t operate for the 2026-27 ski season. Extensive damage to the terrain and infrastructure caused by the wildfire, including the lifts, was the main factor behind the decision. Reaching the ski resort is also difficult right now due to washouts on the main access road.
“This is not the news we wanted to share, and we know it will be disappointing for our guests, homeowners, passholders, and the entire Beaver County community,” said Shane Gadbaw, owner of Eagle Point Resort.
“Our first responsibility is the safety of our guests and employees. The damage to our lifts is significant, and the full extent of that damage is still being evaluated. We are scheduling rope inspections, non-destructive testing, and manufacturer inspections, and we believe it is likely that portions of our lift infrastructure, including several haul ropes, will require replacement. Those components can take months to manufacture and deliver, making it impossible for us to responsibly plan for winter operations this season.”
Guests who purchased a pass have a few options. The first is to get a refund. Option two is to defer to the 2027-28 season. The third choice is to donate some or all of their proceeds to BeaverTUF, a new non-profit created by the ski resort to help out the community.
