For North American skiers dreaming of getting back to winter, conditions in the Chilean Andes have lined up at just the right time. Valle Nevado has picked up 62 inches of new snow over the past week, more snowfall is in the forecast, and the resort has now entered one of its biggest stretches of its winter season with heli-skiing underway and a full calendar of events.
The recent storm cycle has dramatically improved conditions across the mountain, making late July and August an appealing window for travelers looking to escape the Northern Hemisphere summer.
Fresh Snow Covers Nearly The Entire Mountain
According to Valle Nevado, 62 inches of snow fell over the past seven days, refreshing terrain across the resort. As of July 30th, the ski resort has seen a total of 145.3 inches of snow. The mountain is now operating all 13 ski lifts with 44 of its 45 trails open, while forecasts call for additional snowfall over the next two weeks.

Heli Ski Season Is Now Open
The recent storms also coincide with the opening of Valle Nevado’s heli-skiing program, which began operating on July 25. Advanced skiers and riders can access untouched terrain throughout the Central Andes with guided runs serviced by helicopter.
The heli-ski season typically runs from late July into early September, a period known for consistent snow conditions and frequent powder opportunities. Full day packages include four to six runs with professional guides and operate when weather and avalanche conditions allow. For those looking for something beyond lift served terrain, the recent snowfall could not have arrived at a better time.
