USA — While New England (and the Northeast in general) had a lot of positive headlines for a stellar January and February, March hasn’t been as great. Over the past few weeks, it’s warmed up drastically. Add in some rain, and it led some ski resorts to throw in the towel for the season.

However, over the past few days, the tide has been turning. A small snowstorm left some accumulation, but the day after brought warm temperatures. However, Saturday evening and Sunday morning brought the freezing temperatures back into the fray, meaning some ski resorts took advantage of a snowmaking window.

Ski resorts like Jay Peak, Loon, Sugarloaf, and Sunday River blew snow on Sunday, which helped them build up their snow bases and reduce the icy conditions that developed overnight. These ski resorts tend to try to stay open as late as possible.

Perhaps the most notable of the bunch that made snow was Catamount Mountain Resort. While many around them are throwing in the towel, Catamount decided to make snow on Ridge Run trail. This allowed them to connect the Ridge Quad chairlift back to the Meadows Triple chairlift.

Down in Pennsylvania, Blue Mountain made snow as well. They’re trying to remain open as late as possible.

Snow is expected for Northern New England today, and the return of colder temperatures means that there are other chances for snow this week.
