Crested Butte, Colorado — While the 2024-25 season hasn’t been the deepest ever at Crested Butte, the mountain operations team has accomplished a rarely achieved feat at the Colorado ski resort.
Yesterday, Crested Butte announced that it is 100% open. This is only the fifth time in its history that Crested Butte has been able to get 100% of its skiable terrain open since the Teocalli 2 expansion. In addition, it’s a third consecutive season that they’ve been able to pull this off. Crested Butte currently has a base depth of 61 inches and a total snowfall total of 191″ so far. According to Open Snow, that’s 93% of the year average.

This is a big deal, because it’s not easy to get Crested Butte’s terrain all open. With two-thirds of the terrain being advanced and expert, it takes big energy from ski patrollers to get this avalanche prone pistes open.
Crested Butte has various fun events planned for the spring season. These include the 51st Annual Al Johnson Telemark Ski Race on March 16th, Banked Slalom (Unofficial) World Championships on March 22nd, and the Closing Weekend Pond Skim on April 5th.
Crested Butte’s projected closing date is scheduled for April 6th.
