The Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association has ratified a contract with Vail Resorts, ending a strike that’s lasted 12 days and concluding 10 months of bargaining.
The vote to ratify passed on Wednesday, January 9th, with a vote of 100%. The Ski Patrol Union states they believe the new contract incentivizes retention and career growth on the patrol.
According to the PSPSPA, the new contract secures a starting wage increase of $2/hour for all members and wage parity, ensuring that any increase to the wages of another Vail Patrol increase those at Park City. Additionally, the contract provides an average wage increase of $4/hour across the Park City Ski Patrol members and an average increase of $7.75/hour for the most tenured members.
Experience is more compensated with the new contract, and it features a new educational package. Patrollers also gained access to parental leave.
“This is more than just a win for our unit, it is a great success for everyone in the ski and mountain industry. This is a clear example of what can be achieved when workers stand together and fight for what we deserve.” – PCPSPA
With the new contract ratified, members of the Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association will return to work today, January 9.
