Ah, the 2×4 ski. The invention of every late-night-ski-bum-under-the-influence conversation. “Yo… what if we just put bindings on 2x4s and tried to use them as actual skis?”. Many have come up with the idea, very few have actually been willing to waste a pair of bindings on it.

We’ve seen it a few times before, shaped and unshaped, but we haven’t quite seen it like this. Nate Smite (@natesmith.69 on TikTok) decided just shaping, mounting and waxing 2x4s wasn’t enough. He took it one step further, adding some edges to the planks.

I’m not sure if these really count as functional edges, but the difference between how he skis without the edges and how he skis with the edges is decently noticeable. It’s at least a pretty hilarious concept, and it’s always fun to see videos that go this hard.

Here’s the actual installation process for the edges, in case you’re curious (please don’t try this for yourself).
