One of the factors is the reduction in staff, which typically happens near the end of the season. The other major factor is the upcoming ridge in the forecast, which will bring warm weather. Typically, this has brought wet slides to the upper mountain, and sticky snow on the lower mountain. Bridger’s upper mountain features extremely steep terrain with major avalanche risks.
