Buried Image

The hype is real.

Alta Ski Area, located in Little Cottonwood Canyon, UT, is having a historic season by all stretches of definition.

This season is officially the 10th snowiest on record (and it’s only March 10th)!

The chart below shows Alta had totaled 643″ as of March 7th.

Well, another 10 inches have already fallen since then bringing the ski area’s season total to a whopping 653 inches!

Check out how that compares to the deepest seasons recorded over the last 43 years at the Collins study plot.

This will really put things into perspective:

“Since our first snow on October 22nd, Alta has seen an average of 4.7 inches of snow per day.”

Wowza.

The snow isn’t letting up, either.

OpenSnow is calling for up to 38 inches to fall over the next 5 days, and an additional 24 inches to fall in the 6-10 day forecast.

At this rate, Alta should easily crack the top five list by closing day on April 23rd.

The rest of Utah is also racking up above-average snow.

Check out how much snow has fallen at other notable ski resorts across the state:

Brighton: 659 inches

Snowbird: 599 inches

Solitude: 591 inches

Park City: 454 inches

Deer Valley: 454 inches

Snowbasin: 395 inches

Powder Mountain: 390 inches

Here’s hoping it keeps snowing for weeks to come across Utah!
