Ever since I learned you could approximate the time before the sun sets using an extended fist I’ve been obsessed with these kinds of quick and dirty tricks to measuring things. You’ll never know the exact height of a tree down to the inch using this yardstick technique but just having a rough estimate is pretty nifty. Check out the video, grab a yard stick and find out how tall that tree in your backyard you’ve been looking at your whole life is.
