Palisades Tahoe delays opening day.

Palisades Tahoe has officially postponed their opening day due to limited natural snowfall and difficulty with snowmaking caused by short, inconsistent weather windows.

Opening day at California’s largest ski resort was initially scheduled for Wednesday, November 26th, but early-season storms have only brought light accumulations. At the same time, the cold, dry conditions required for building a safe and durable snow base are yet to materialize.

Palisades Tahoe’s snowmaking team has fired up snowmaking equipment as often as possible, taking advantage of every available cold snap, but those moments have been brief. To conduct snowmaking, humidity has to be low enough alongside the cold temperatures.

Snowmaking crews are on standby 24/7, waiting for the weather to cooperate. A replacement opening day hasn’t been announced, but several Thanksgiving/holiday events, including scenic Aerial Tram rides and the Thanksgiving Dinner at The Olympic House Lodge, will continue.
