Butte County Search and Rescue in California responded to an incident in the Pulga area over the weekend where a hiker and survived a 30-foot fall down a waterfall in rugged terrain.

The hiker had sustained serious injuries requiring an immediate extraction, and a short haul helicopter rescue was executed using a 150-foot extended rope. The advanced, high-risk method was required due to the remote location.

CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire assisted in the complex rescue. The patient was flown to a location near the Cresta Power House before being transferred to Enloe FlightCare for further medical treatment.
