National Trails Day®, hosted by the American Hiking Society, is coming up on June 7th, presenting outdoor lovers with the opportunity to give back to the trails they know and love.

National Trails Day® aims to encourage advocacy and trail service across the country, with public events bringing tens of thousands of hikers, bikers, horseback riders, trail clubs, land trusts, businesses, and federal and local agencies together to advocate for, maintain, and clean up public lands and trails.

National Trails Day Spotlight

There are plenty of different ways to celebrate National Trails Day making it easy for anyone to participate. You can find a trail service project near you on June 7th or sign up for one in the future, or you can commit to taking a trash bag with you on your next walk or hike, picking trash to help leave a trail better than you found it. If you can’t commit to either of those, you can message your Member of Congress, give a gift to a local trail nonprofit or to the American Hiking Society, or simply help spread the word to recreate responsibly.

Those who take the 2025 National Trails Day® Pledge, stating that they’ll be a trail steward and do their part to leave trails better than they found them, will be entered in a contest to win one of four gear prize packages. The packages include everything from AllTrails+ memberships to hiking packs to hammocks.

Plus tagging @AmericanHiking and #NationalTrailsDay in your favorite trail photos or videos on Instagram enters you in another chance to win one of four additional gear prize packages.

Of course while prizes are always fun, National Trails Day® is about taking care of the outdoor spaces we love and representing good & responsible recreation while out in nature.
