Avalanche in Georgia.
Avalanche in Georgia.

Professional skier and filmmaker Nikolai Schirmer captured this avalanche in Georgia on camera as he and his crew watched from a separate ridge nearby. He explained that his crew had decided to avoid avalanche terrain on the day of the slide as it was the first sunny day after a major snowstorm.

We made the call to wait out this first sunny day after the storm, and stay out of avalanche terrain. Pretty rare to get this kind of feedback on your decision making, watching another group make the opposite call. Glad everyone was okay.” – Nikolai Schirmer

Let this be a reminder to stay out of avalanche terrain unless you have the proper training, decision making skills, and equipment for doing so.
