Wyoming — If you’re looking to buy a skiing operation, one of the most unique ski areas is still for sale.

Last year, after deciding not to operate for the 2024 season, it was announced that Beartooth Basin was for sale. It’s being offered as taking over the operating lease or becoming a partial investor.

However, the ski area still plans to operate for the 2025 ski season, thanks to more snowfall compared to last winter. They plan to open on May 26th and close on July 6th.

Situated next to the legendary Beartooth Pass road, Beartooth Basin is one of the few lift-serviced places where you can go skiing in North America during the summertime. The ski area features nine trails across 600 skiable acres, a vertical drop of 1000 feet, and two Doppelmayr platter lifts servicing the terrain. It’s an upside-down ski area, meaning you park up top and then ski down to the lifts. On-mountain facilities are limited, as there aren’t any fancy lodges here. The sale includes three snowcat groomers, a portable diesel generator, seven trailers, and miscellaneous equipment and tools needed for the operation.

Joshua Murdock of The Missoulian gave a video tour during the last season that Beartooth Basin operated (2023).

It’s situated inside Shoshone National Forest, so it’s operated by the current ownership group (which is led by Austin Hart), but they don’t own the land.

If you are interested in buying this place, you can email beartoothbasin@gmail.com.
