National Parks entry fee waived April 19th
National Parks entry fee waived April 19th

Cheers to the folks at the National Park Service who are celebrating the kickoff to National Parks Week by waiving the normal entrance fee to all 433 National Parks in the United State and US territories which span an incredible 84 million acres (almost the size of California).

President George Bush proclaimed the first National Parks Week in 1991 to commemorate the National Park Service’s 75th anniversary and now it is celebrated annually in April alongside Earth Day.

If you’re looking to get a jump start on recreating in our glorious National Parks this summer, make sure to mark your calendar for April 19th and enjoy free entry to all of our National Parks.

National Park Service Statement:

Love national parks? There’s a holiday for that! Join us for National Park Week happening April 19 to April 27 to celebrate everything “parks.” There are more than 400 national parks of different shapes, sizes, and kinds to experience. Also discover what the National Park Service does to preserve natural and cultural heritage and provide recreational opportunities in communities across the country—and even the world!

Five Easy Ways to Celebrate

  1. Follow the fun on social media using #NationalParkWeek. Join conversations with our parks and programs and share your own posts about your love of parks to inspire others.
  2. Find a national park and come visit! Entrance fees to national parks are waived on April 19, 2025, to kick off the celebration.
  3. Kids, grab your family and friends to come out for National Junior Ranger Day! You can also earn your official Junior Ranger badge any time at most parks throughout the week.
  4. Look around your community to learn how National Park Service programs and partners are involved in your community. Find national historic landmarks or national natural landmarks near you. Or enjoy recreational opportunities and spaces enhanced by programs and partners.
  5. Get involved as a volunteer or partner! Many parks are also celebrating National Volunteer Week.
