Westminster, Massachusetts — The future is looking bright at Wachusett Mountain.

Last week, Wachusett Mountain released a video that detailed the projects completed during this past offseason. A new chairlift next year, along with various on-mountain projects this offseason, has put the popular Massachusetts ski resort in a quality position for the future.

Here’s a recap of the projects Wachusett did this past offseason.

Lifts: The Polar Kids teaching area has been relocated and expanded, giving beginners more terrain to explore. The Wachusett team also added a new Monadnock teaching area with a magic carpet. They’ve also eliminated the pond just above the Polar Express base terminal and replaced it with a wetland habitat. The Lift Maintenance team has replaced the bearings and bull wheels on the Minute Man and Monadnock Express chairlifts. The Prinoth Giraffe device helped them clear trees and branches around the lift lines and terrain.

The video also references the lift replacement coming in 2025. As first reported by Shaun Sutner of the Worcester Telegram, the Polar Express Quad will be replaced in the 2025 offseason by a Doppelmayr detachable high-speed six-pack chairlift.

Snowmaking: New snowmaking pipe has been added to the Mass Pike trail, and the feeds were replaced at the old pumphouse. They added a HKD product called IO which allows Wachusett’s snowmakers to more efficiently control their pumps and compressors. Perhaps the biggest project was Wachusett putting in thirteen new SMI fan guns in areas that typically didn’t get great snowmaking coverage.

Miscellaneous Projects: New patio crosswalks have been sculpted from the Granite Room to the base of the lifts. New storage lockers and cubbies have been added to the exterior of the lodge. In the lodge, the floor has been replaced next to the cafeteria area, new windows and doors have replaced the “yucky” ones, and a new roof has been added. New bathrooms have been installed in the rental shop.

In terms of an opening date, Wachusett just announced that it will be opening on Thursday, December 5th.

In conclusion: Waaaaaaaaaaaa Wa Wachusett.
