Hancock, Vermont – A new General Manager has been announced for one of Vermont’s hidden gems.

Last week, the Middlebury Snowbowl announced they have Kim Essensa as their new General Manager. She comes from the Dartmouth Skiway, another college-run ski area in New England. She has been the Guest Experience Manager there, “overseeing ticketing, rentals, retail, snowsports school bookings, and overall guest stoke.” Before that, she worked as the Customer Experience Manager at Stio and then as the Guest Experience Manager at a little-known ski resort called Jackson Hole. She started in the ski industry as a ski instructor at Shawnee Peak, now known as Pleasant Mountain.

Middlebury Snowbowl’s prior GM was Mike Hussey, who was hired in 2018 and retired on May 12th.

Kim is coming to a ski area that’s changed quite a bit in the last few years. Before the 2023-24 season, they replaced the Sheehan chairlift with a new Skytrac fixed-grip quad chairlift, added night skiing to that aforementioned terrain pod, and sculpted a trail to their beginner area.

This offseason, the Snowbowl is refurbishing the Bailey Falls Chair (which didn’t operate last winter) and replacing 3,000 to 4,000 feet of its snowmaking pipes across the mountain.

These improvements, the Snowbowl’s affordable lift tickets, and its status as an Indy Pass allied partner make it a mountain worth visiting for Northeast skiers and riders.
