After Wolf Creek came out of left field and took the crown as first ski area to open in Colorado for the 18/19 season, Loveland and A-Basin were forced to take a backseat they’re not accustomed to taking.

That said, they’re both working hard for second place and the #RaceToOpen is most definitely STILL ON. Here’s where the race stands today.

Loveland Ski Area:

24 Hour Snowfall — 7″ | 7-Day — 24″

“The Loveland snowmaking team had a very strong weekend of making snow. Mother Nature has also dropped 24″ of snow on over the past 8 days. The snowguns will be moved to the lower half of the mountain and we’ll focus our snowmaking efforts on the final stretch. Loveland still hopes to open sometime in the next week or two. Last year Loveland opened on October 20th. Today we had one of our snowcats pushing the snow out and getting it ready for the season.”Loveland Ski Area

Arapahoe Basin:

24 Hour Snowfall — 5″ | 7-Day — 20″

“I just took a walk down High Noon. The coverage is good. We have several fan guns cranking on the upper portion of the trail. Do not get confused by my last message. We are not out of water. We just don’t have quite as much as we’d like. Snowmaking is still moving right along.” – Al’s Blog
