Mountain biking continues to grow across North America and the continent’s biggest lift served bike parks are evolving right alongside the sport. Resorts that once focused almost entirely on winter now invest heavily in summer operations with expanded trail networks, new jump lines, skills zones, and modern lift access that attract riders from around the world.

While dozens of destinations offer downhill riding, only a handful stand out for their sheer scale. These parks combine extensive trail mileage with significant vertical drop and terrain that serves everyone from first time riders to elite racers.

Whistler Bike Park Leads the Continent

No destination rivals Whistler Bike Park in British Columbia. The resort remains the benchmark for lift served mountain biking with more than 120 purpose built trails spread across four mountain zones. Riders can access nearly 5,000 feet of vertical and explore terrain ranging from beginner flow trails to legendary expert routes such as A Line and Dirt Merchant. The resort also offers one of the longest operating seasons in North America.

Whistler continues to define what a world class bike park looks like and remains the destination against which every other resort is measured.

Mammoth Mountain Offers Massive Terrain

California’s Mammoth Bike Park ranks among the largest mountain bike parks on the continent with 3,500 acres of terrain, 52 trails, and 84 miles of singletrack. Riders have access to more than 3,100 feet of vertical from the upper mountain, creating long descents that showcase volcanic terrain, berms, rock gardens, and high speed flow trails.

Its size and elevation make Mammoth one of the premier western destinations for gravity riders.

Angel Fire Has Become a Downhill Destination

New Mexico’s Angel Fire Bike Park has earned a place among North America’s largest lift served mountain bike parks. The resort says it is the largest bike park in the Rocky Mountains and features more than 60 miles of purpose built terrain, more than 40 trails, and over 2,000 feet of vertical accessed by the Chile Express chairlift. Riders will find everything from beginner flow trails to technical rock features, jump lines, and race ready descents.

Trestle and Killington Continue to Expand

Colorado’s Trestle Bike Park has become one of the most popular downhill destinations in the United States. Located at Winter Park Resort, the park features more than 40 miles of lift served trails that range from smooth beginner routes to steep technical descents and advanced jump lines.

On the East Coast, Killington Bike Park continues to attract riders looking for big mountain terrain. The Vermont resort features more than 40 miles of lift served trails while the surrounding region adds more than 90 miles of additional mountain bike routes for visitors extending their trips.

Summer Growth Continues

As ski resorts search for year round revenue, mountain biking has become one of the fastest growing pieces of the outdoor recreation industry. Larger bike parks now offer professional instruction, rental fleets, bike patrol, and trail networks designed for every skill level.

The biggest parks continue to invest in new trails and rider experiences each season. That ongoing expansion helps attract new visitors while giving experienced riders fresh reasons to return, ensuring that North America’s largest mountain bike parks remain major summer destinations long after the snow has melted.
