After spending the past several weeks living aboard my boat on Block Island, I’ve had the chance to put the XTRATUF Men’s Ankle Deck Boot Sport DriftTech through exactly the kind of conditions it was designed for. Saltwater, wet docks, dinghy rides, rain, and long days on deck—they’ve seen it all.
The short version? I couldn’t be happier with them.
The first thing that stood out was just how comfortable they are. They honestly feel more like a pair of slippers than a pair of deck boots. I’ve worn them for hours at a time without thinking about my feet, whether I was walking around the marina, running errands on the island, or climbing in and out of the dinghy.
Where these boots really shine is around the water. The DriftTech upper and built-in drainage system work exactly as advertised. If water gets inside the boot, it drains out almost immediately, and the boots dry remarkably fast. That’s a huge advantage over traditional rubber deck boots that can leave you sloshing around with wet feet for the rest of the day. The breathable upper and drainage ports are specifically designed for this purpose, and in real-world use they perform exceptionally well.

Traction has also been excellent. Whether on fiberglass decks, floating docks, or slippery launch ramps, I’ve always felt secure underfoot thanks to the non-marking, slip-resistant outsole.
If I have one criticism, it’s the sizing. I found the boots run a little shorter than expected. If you’re between sizes—or even if you like a little extra room—I would recommend ordering one size up from what you normally wear. XTRATUF also recommends sizing up if you’re a half size, which lines up with my experience.
Verdict
The XTRATUF Men’s Ankle Deck Boot Sport DriftTech has become my go-to footwear for life on the water. They’re incredibly comfortable, drain water almost instantly, dry quickly, and provide excellent grip on wet surfaces. After weeks of daily use while living aboard on Block Island, I can confidently say these are some of the best deck boots I’ve ever owned.
