Everyone forgets to close a pocket on the slopes from time to time. Sometimes that turns into a pocket full of snow, sometimes it means a missing phone, wallet, or another object. If the snow is deep enough or you’re moving fast enough, that object might never be found again. That is until the mountain cleanup in the spring.
Deer Valley Resort in Utah recently shared what they found during their mountain cleanup, including a pair of telemark skis, lots of poles, an iPhone, headphones, keys, an empty bottle of bourbon, a bone, a bizarre ornament thing made from sticks, and much more. Tragically the list also includes 162 pounds of trash.
You can’t always control what you lose on the mountain, whether it’s because of open pockets, broken bindings, and slippery hands. However there’s a good chance at least a solid chunk of that garbage was dropped on purpose, a pretty sad reality of ski resorts. There are garbage cans all over the place at ski resorts. Don’t litter, it’s gross and you’re gross if you do it.
