With no external propeller, jet boats are brilliant for navigating complicated bodies of water with hidden underwater obstacles. Of course there’s still a risk of damage, but their design tends to allow navigation through extremely shallow rivers with both rocks and rapids. Dusty Friesen of Dustydoeser proves that with his jet boat, sending it through dangerous waters and launching his boat off literal waterfalls for fun.
This leap was done at Lundbreck Falls in Alberta, where Dusty apparently broke a world record for the highest naturally flowing water fall jumped with a water jet boat on Monday, May 25th. In total the water to water descent was an impressive 29 feet. According to CTV News, while he was attempting to wind up grabbing a Guinness World Record, representatives from the company say they don’t track this specific record (interesting take given that they track things like the “greatest distance juggling on a pogo stick”).
The Alberta Royal Canadian Mounted Patrol are reportedly investigating the waterfall jump, though Dusty doesn’t believe he broke any laws. Specifically Dusty claims that nowhere on the Alberta Parks website does it state that he can’t jump Lundbreck Falls or bring his boat on the Crowsnest River. Legal or not, this is undoubtedly an jaw-dropping stunt.
