A 64-year-old man was rescued early Wednesday morning after becoming separated from his sons while hiking the Bolles Trail in Albany, New Hampshire.

Kevin Horgan of East Kingston was hiking with his sons when the group became separated approximately four miles from the trailhead. With no cell service in the area, Horgan’s sons made it back to the trailhead and waited several hours before managing to send emergency texts to 911. Conway Fire and Rescue personnel responded and treated the brothers for dehydration.

New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers and members of Lakes Region Search and Rescue (LRSR) were notified at 10:30pm on Tuesday, May 26th, and hiked up the trail to find Horgan. He was located roughly half a mile up the trail and was able to hike out under his own power alongside rescuers, arriving at the trailhead just after 12:30am Wednesday.

LRSR is a volunteer search and rescue organization whose members maintain the skills and equipment needed to carry out rescues across the state. Donations to the organization can be made through the New Hampshire Outdoor Council at nhoutdoorcouncil.org and are fully tax deductible.
