Choosing one ski resort to visit for the rest of your life is an almost impossible question for anyone who loves skiing. With thousands of mountains around the world offering different terrain, snow, climates, and cultures, giving up every other resort would be a serious commitment.
We recently asked Unofficial Networks Facebook followers which resort they would choose if they could only ski one for the rest of their lives. The responses showed just how difficult the decision would be, with several major ski destinations emerging as clear favorites.
Mammoth Mountain Gets Plenty Of Support
Mammoth Mountain was one of the most frequently mentioned resorts in the responses. Several skiers pointed to its combination of size, terrain, accessibility, and exceptionally long season.
One skier highlighted Mammoth’s huge mountain, long season, real snow and surf-town atmosphere. Another said the resort is large enough to avoid getting bored while remaining accessible from Southern California.
Other commenters simply gave Mammoth their vote, with one specifically citing its very long seasons as the deciding factor.
Jackson Hole And Snowbird Remain Favorites
Jackson Hole was another recurring choice. Multiple commenters selected the Wyoming resort outright, while others pointed to its steep terrain, powder days and surrounding mountain community as reasons they could spend a lifetime there.
Snowbird also appeared repeatedly among the responses. Some skiers chose it without explanation, while others grouped it with Alta or Kicking Horse when considering their ultimate lifelong destination.
Alta generated its own following. One skier called it home and praised its snow, while another said Alta would be the choice if they could live immediately near the mountain.
Colorado And The Alps Make A Strong Showing
Colorado resorts were heavily represented, with Snowmass, Telluride, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Vail, Winter Park and others appearing throughout the discussion.
Snowmass received several votes, with commenters praising its terrain variety and ski in ski out lodging. Telluride also attracted longtime devotees, including one skier who said the terrain is what keeps them there after 27 years.
European destinations were equally compelling. Les 3 Vallées and Dolomiti Superski were repeatedly mentioned, with skiers emphasizing their enormous scale, variety, food and seemingly endless terrain.
The responses ultimately showed that there is no universal answer. For some skiers, the choice comes down to snow and terrain. For others, it is convenience, family history or decades of memories. If you truly had to pick only one, the decision might be harder than the question suggests.
