Back on November 13th Mammoth Mountain issued a statement that they were scrapping their plans of opening for skiing and riding on Saturday, November 15 due to changes in a storm cycle. With colder temperatures and snowfall ensuing after the initial delay, Mammoth has announced they are “one step closer to opening day” but haven’t specified a date at the moment:

“This heavy snow is a great start to building our base, but we need the temperatures to drop just a bit more so we can begin snowmaking on the lower mountain and build our necessary base. We appreciate the patience, winter is loading.”

Moving forward Mammoth will be be assessing conditions daily and are committed to opening as soon as conditions allow. Mammoth will provide 24 hour notice “once Mother Nature gives us the green light” and we will be sure to spread the word when they announce their opening day.
