Camden, Maine — If you’re looking to ski and have an ocean view at the same time in the Eastern United States, there’s only one place to go. Situated on the Maine coast, the Camden Snow Bowl is full of fun year-round activities. Its most notable one is downhill skiing, but the number of activities is expected to grow in the years ahead.
Camden Snow Bowl is undergoing a strategic analysis by the SE Group. Last summer, the Town of Camden released the preliminary Snow Bowl Multi-Season Recreation Plan.
Some of the ideas include expanding the hiking and biking trail network, building a new lodge, hosting more events, adding bike-carrying capabilities to the chairlift, constructing an adventure park, and installing a zip rail attraction. On-mountain improvements, which would include new lifts and trails, appear not to be part of the plan.
While work on that continues, upgrades have been made to the ski area.
Last week, the Camden Snow Bowl unveiled a new base area building, which will house the ticket office and rentals. This quaint building was constructed over the summer. Meanwhile, the A-Frame lodge will continue to be the home of most services.
The town has also been focusing on adding more offseason activities. Crews have been working on adding new mountain biking trails. In addition, their skatepark was rebuilt earlier this year.
About Camden Snow Bowl
First opened in 1936, the Camden Snow Bowl is situated on Maine’s Ragged Mountain. The ski area features 15 trails, 11 glades, 3 lifts, and a vertical drop of 1,000 feet. Other winter activities include snow tubing, cross-country skiing, and snowboarding. It’s also home to the U.S. National Toboggan Championships, which sees participants speed down a slide onto the frozen Hosmer Pond.
