After an exhaustive search for the perfect location with deep snow and big mountains, ROAM Adventures decided on opening Gold Rush Heli Skiing on a tenure that spans from the historic town of Atlin, British Columbia, to the Alaska border and includes the Juneau Icecap with 100 feet of annual snowfall.
“We offer heli-skiing, heli-assisted ski touring and a winter multi-sport adventure like no other…in some of the world’s wildest terrain. The future of heli-skiing is in the North!” –Gold Rush Heli Skiing
Gold Rush Heli Skiing will be based out the historic mining town of Atlin, BC and have access to massive 648,000 acre tenure of skiable terrain. To give you some perspective, the tenure is roughly the size of Los Angeles city proper plus San Francisco and Manhattan combined, with room to spare.

Gold Rush hit the jackpot when it comes onboarding their lead guide with Johnny Mellis joining the team. Mellis spent 34 years with CMH and the last 29 years as the general manager at Cariboo Lodge. Gold Rush brought him in as a consultant and when he saw the combination of the terrain and the lodge, he knew it was a can’t miss opportunity and packed his bags.
For their inaugural 2026 ski season, Gold Rush is hosting a maximum of 8 guests in deluxe cabins plus their main lodge and flying nimble A-Star (Airbus H125/AS350) helicopters in 2 groups of 4 with two machines to get guests out and skiing quickly.
If you are interested in skiing with Gold Rush this winter we recommend booking now as 2026 guests will have first right of refusal for the following season, and spaces have already started to fill up. Check out packages here. Cheers.
