Pittsfield, Massachusetts — If you’ve ever wanted to stay slopeside at a ski area, one affordable option is to rent a microcabin. These are starting to pop up at ski areas across the country, and one Massachusetts ski resort is planning to add some to allow guests to stay overnight.
Pittsfield.com reports that last month, the Pittsfield Community Development Board approved a proposal by Bousquet Mountain to add new mobile microcabins at the base of the ski area. The project approval is contingent on several factors: the ski area must further detail the phases of the plan, make the necessary site improvements before construction, and install downcast lighting.
The plan is for 16 cabins: twelve of them will be one-beroom units, while four of them will be two-bedroom units. The units will be situated in the gravel parking lot next to the slopes, which is used for ski area machinery and excess parking. They will be produced by B&B Micro Manufacturing, a local company based in Adams. These units will be connected to water and sewage. As part of the project, the stormwater runoff infrastructure will be improved.

The ski area plans to start adding several cabins in 2026, with several years needed for full implementation.
About Bousquet Mountain
Situated in the Berkshires, Bousquet has undergone some nice recent improvements. These upgrades include a new lodge, snowmaking enhancements, and an expanded snow tubing area. This is thanks to the acquisition of the ski area by Mill Town Partners in 2020.
The Massachusetts ski area features 22 trails, 4 lifts, and a vertical drop of 750 feet. In the winter, the ski area also features night skiing and snow tubing. Bousquet Mountain also joined the Indy Pass for the 2025-26 season. During the summer, the ski area features disc golf, hiking trails, a restaurant, and hosts various events, including concerts.
