Wyoming’s mountains are about to get hit with significant snowfall as winter weather rolls into the state. The National Weather Service is forecasting substantial accumulations across the higher elevations, with some locations potentially seeing over a foot of snow.
Between Friday, October 24th, and Monday, October 27th, the peaks and passes of western Wyoming could see impressive totals, while lower elevations remain mostly dry. This storm is particularly targeting the Teton Range, Yellowstone region, and the Wind River Mountains.

Other ski areas like Grand Targhee Resort are looking at 5 inches expected with up to 7 inches possible. Snow King Mountain Resort and Teton Village are expecting 2-4 inches with similar high-end totals of 3-4 inches. Meanwhile, lower elevation towns like Jackson, Casper, Cody, and Riverton will likely remain snow-free, with 0 inches expected and minimal chances of any accumulation.
This early-season snowfall is a promising sign for Wyoming’s ski resorts as they prepare for the winter season. With snowmaking operations already underway at several areas, this natural snow will provide an excellent base and could accelerate opening dates across the state’s resorts.
