A woman who found herself trapped by a moose was forced to call for help while hiking in Summit County, Colorado.
According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the moose was blocking the trail and preventing the woman from returning to the trailhead. As she did not feel safe attempting to walk around the animal, she contacted the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies hiked up to assist the woman and the moose eventually did eventually leave without incident. No injuries were reported throughout the incident.
More than 3,000 moose call Colorado home, and the state’s population is one of the fastest growing in the lower 48. As moose have few natural enemies in the wild, they generally don’t fear humans as much as other animals. Moose generally don’t cause problems, but they can and will attack people who come too close.
