Hermon, Maine — Things weren’t looking good last fall for Hermon Mountain Ski Area (also known as New Hermon Mountain). On the market for a couple of years, the prior owners found that if they couldn’t find a new operator, the ski area would close for good. Luckily, some locals stepped up to save the day.

The new owners are Dave Hart, Hayden Jenkins, Heidi Guerrette, and Tim McClary. These are locals who are longtime skiers of the mountain. To expand their business, they have expanded their offerings to the summertime.

On Thursday night, Hermon Mountain Ski Area opened for its 2026 summer operations. The new attraction is an 18-hole disc golf course. Installed over the past month or so, this course winds around the slopes and woods. There are also yard games near the lodge to check out.

The base lodge is also open, with the kitchen making various things for dinner. This includes sandwiches, pizza, salads, and desserts. The ski area will also host events this summer, including comedy nights.

More improvements could be coming at Hermon Mountain. More summer activities are being considered, such as mountain biking. We don’t know about their planned improvements for the winter yet. For now, Bangorites will be able to enjoy their local ski area during the summertime.

Hermon Mountain will be open this summer on Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m, Fridays from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 12 to 9 p.m., and Sundays from 12 to 9 p.m.
