Mars Hill, Maine — A family-oriented non-profit Maine ski area is adding new terrain for the 2026-27 season.

This offseason, Big Rock Mountain in Maine is adding a new beginner trail. Currently, the Maine ski area has no beginner trails off its summit. This will give beginners a way down, providing a next step after the Apollo Triple chairlift.

Not many details are known about the run so far, such as length, width, slope angle, and whether it has snowmaking. But what we do know is that it will be a mellow way down the mountain.

The move follows major additions at the Maine ski area over the past few years. This includes a new Doppelmayr fixed-grip quad chairlift and extensive snowmaking upgrades, including a new pumphouse. The Maine ski area also partnered with Rad Smith on a new trail map, which you can check out below.
