Ten Sleep, Wyoming — A surprising company has entered the ski and snowboarding sphere. Not many people had heard of Mas Alpha Securities when it surprisingly bought Meadowlark Lodge earlier this year. But based on their roots, they’re an intriguing company.

The Mas family helped grow MasTec, an infrastructure company. They also own Inter Miami CF, which has a few fairly famous soccer players on their team. The youngest adult generation of the Mas family created Mas Alpha Securities to help grow various businesses. Led in this venture by avid snowboarder Jose Mas Jr., the family is now using the company to expand into the snow world, most recently by acquiring a snowboarding company.

Yesterday, Mas Alpha Securities announced that they’re acquiring Arbor Snowboarding. As part of the deal, Arbor Snowboards is bringing its operations back in-house, and founder Bob Carlson is becoming more involved. Since the 2010s, Arbor has been a part of Kent Outdoors. Kent Outdoors owns/operates brands such as Connelly, O’Brien, and Onyx. The partnership with Kent will end on January 31, 2027.

“A few years back we set out to prepare Arbor for a changing industry. We strengthened the management team, bolstered the athlete roster, and began the process of refining and broadening our product offering. Today we have completed the transformation by significantly strengthening the ownership of the business, while keeping it grounded in our founding,” said Carlson.

As part of this deal, Arbor and Meadowlark intend to have a unique partnership. The Wyoming ski resort will serve as a research and development lab, official test center, and key content creation hub.

“We aren’t building this for the next five years,” said Mas. “We are building it for the next 50. We want Arbor and Meadowlark to become agents of change in the outdoor world. We want our team, our guests, and our communities to feel the passion behind what we are creating. We are just getting started.”

Meanwhile, work continues on preparing Meadowlark Lodge for the 2026-27 season. Referenced upgrades include lodge and lift refurbishments. Work is also underway on clearing around 50 acres of tree skiing in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service.
