Jay, Vermont — While it wasn’t the snowiest day at Jay Peak, the Vermont ski resort had a memorable season finale.
On Sunday, Jay Peak concluded its 2024-25 ski season. They only had one trail open, Jet, which was serviced by the Jet Triple. While this may be surprising for a ski resort that saw so much snow this season, it was a very rainy and warm start to May, expediting snowmelt.
Those who ventured to Jay on closing day saw a mix of conditions, including snow, grass, and mud. Some even decided to skip the snow entirely, focusing on grass skiing. This is par for the course for Jay Peak, which typically features some spicy closing day conditions.
Ultimately, Jay Peak had a spectacular winter. The Vermont ski resort received 475 inches of snow during the 2024-25 season, which was above the totals of many ski resorts in western North America. At some points, Jay Peak was in the top five for total snowfall for the 2024-25 season. Unfortunately, the snow totals slowed down in the spring, which meant that it fell short of their all-time record: 550 inches.
Technically, Jay Peak’s ski season isn’t over yet. The second annual Summer Solstice event will feature snow that is currently being covered by tarps. The snow will be pushed out for a June 21st terrain park event. While this event mostly appeals to terrain park skiers and riders, it’ll be cool to see one New England ski resort having snow in June.
