Zion National Park is preparing tourists for serious crowds during Memorial Day Weekend, warning of long lines and waits throughout the holiday weekend.

During Memorial Day weekend in 2024, Zion recorded 92,000 visits, more than over 150 National Park Service sites see in a year. With nearly 5 million people visiting the park in 2024, rangers and staff are preparing for what could be an incredibly busy weekend.

Zion National Park warns of long lines at entrance stations, trailheads, visitor centers, and restrooms, lengthy waits to board park shuttles, intermittent, temporary closures at the east and south vehicle entrance stations, and heavy traffic in both Springdale and throughout Zion Canyon.

Those who are passing by Zion but aren’t recreating in the park are encouraged to use alternate driving routes as traffic may be heavy. Alternate routes include Utah State Route 20, Utah State Route 14, and US-80 – Arizona 389 – Utah 58.
