Chile â€” Ski season is coming to an end for most places in the Northern Hemisphere. If you’re like me, though, you never stop thinking about skiing, even when the warmer temperatures arrive. I prefer cold weather over mosquitoes, thank you very much. One option to get your skiing fix is to head down to the Southern Hemisphere and go skiing. And one of the best ways to do that is to head to Chile’s Valle Nevado.

Located just 44 miles outside of Santiago (Chile’s capital city), Valle Nevado features one of the best skiing experiences in the Southern Hemisphere. With its base elevation situated at 9,925 feet, the snow quality is considered being the best of any ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere. The ski resort features access to 2200 skiable acres along with Chile’s best lift network. Valle Nevado is part of the Tres Valles, which are the three interconnected ski resorts of El Colorado, La Parva, and Valle Nevado. There’s also the heli-skiing, which is considered not only the best on the continent, but also among the best on the planet.

There are various reasons why now is the time to book your ski trip for Valle Nevado. For one, the sweet spot for booking international flights is around two to three months out, which means that now is the time to look into flights.

Visa cardholders also get discounts on lift tickets, equipment rentals, dining at Bajo Zero, and Pub Tres Puntas.

The Ikon Pass offers 7 days and 10% off lodging at Valle Nevado. The Mountain Collective offers two days (along with 50% off additional days) plus 15% off lodging rack rates at Valle Nevado if you stay three or more nights.
