LA 2028 has announced the venue for the Olympic surfing competition during summer 2028. According to California State Parks, the legendary Trestles Beach will set the stage for the competition.

California’s natural beauty is world-renowned, and with LA28 it will take center stage for the sport the Golden State is best known for – surfing. We’re looking forward to welcoming the world to explore and bask in all that makes our state a global leader” – Governor Gavin Newsom

Trestles Beach is a part of San Onofre State Beach, attracting 2.5 million visitors a year. The beach’s consistent waves have attracted beginners and pro surfers for years, earning recognition by the Olympics in part because of its elite status among professional surfers.

“We are honored to share this gem of California’s state park system with the world. This iconic beach that has inspired generations of surfers will now welcome the world’s best athletes and show millions what’s possible when public lands are preserved and shared with the world. Thank you to LA28 and the International Olympic Committee for entrusting California State Parks to stage the surfing competition.” – said California State Parks Director Armando Quintero.

State Parks is set to work closely with the City of Los Angeles, LA28, local stakeholders, tribal partners, athletes, and the global surf community to prepare Trestles Beach as the 2028 Summer Olympics approach.
