Stowe, Vermont — After one of its snowiest winters ever, Stowe will have one of its latest closing dates in recent memory.
This week, Stowe Mountain Resort announced that it will close for the 2024-25 season on April 27th. An impressive amount of terrain is still skiable thanks to the natural snowfall, along with the snowmaking efforts this winter, with 60 trails currently open. They are currently skiing off the Forerunner Quad and the Sunrise Six chairlifts.
“It has been amazing to be back in Vermont for a season with over 300 inches of snow,” said Mike Giorgio, the VP and GM of Stowe Mountain Resort. “Looking back, I am filled with gratitude for our team and the guests who have welcomed me into the Stowe Mountain family. From the fresh flakes on opening day to the record snowfall in February and the return of the pond skim, it has truly been a privilege to share the mountain with everyone this season. I look forward to seeing you all back on the slopes soon.”
It’s been a stellar season at Stowe, as they’ve seen 357 inches of snowfall. In addition, they received 9 inches of snowfall over the last 72 hours, so they’re shaping up for an exciting weekend.
Situated on Vermont’s tallest peak, Stowe Mountain Resort is regarded as having some of the best terrain in the Northeast. The ski resort features 116 trails, 12 lifts, and a vertical drop of 2360 feet. Vail Resorts has owned Stowe since 2017, with its most notable improvement being the opening of the Sunrise Six chairlift in 2022.
