We’re officially in the second half of April and we’re creeping up to the midway point of spring, but that doesn’t mean the ski/snowboard season is over. Sure many resorts around the country have already closed and the dirt is starting to show at your favorite area, but many would argue that spring snow is some of the best snow.
If you’re in the east, the ski season is still going strong with continued snowfall keeping the conditions great. For Mainer’s (and those that want to take a day trip to Maine), there are still three ski areas spinning lifts this weekend.
Sugarloaf Mountain
Sugarloaf Mountain has 4 of 15 chairlifts open with 29 of 174 trails. The resort has seen 7 inches of snow in the past 7 days, with 167 inches falling on the mountain throughout the season.
Sunday River
Sunday River is running with 3 of 19 chairlifts accessing 45 of 140 trails. The mountain has seen 127 inches throughout the entire season and currently has a base depth of 16 inches. Sunday River’s tentative closing day is set for May 3.
Saddleback Mountain
Saddleback Mountain is closed today, as it was yesterday, the day before and the day before. BUT on April 18, Saddleback will reopen between Friday and Sunday. The ski area has seen 208 inches of snow this season and has a base depth of 32 inches. Their final day of the 2024/25 season is April 20.
