Monaco based videographer Lucas Brito was on a snowboarding trip to Japan when he captured a dangerous situation with his selfie stick. Brito was riding at Niseko Ski Resort when he passed through a Gate #9 also known as the Waterfall Gate to access a gladed run that is often filled with fresh powder.

As he made his way down with selfie stick in hand, Brito lost an edge and ended up splashing down in a steeply walled water filled hole. Although he saw the hazard before into into it, he was unable to self arrest in time. Waste deep in frigid water and clinging to the wall, Brito was in a very dangerous situation before his riding partner showed up and helped him find his footing on a shallow ledge.

“Now I know why it’s called Waterfall Gate. All okay thanks for the rescue.” -Lucas Brito
